Recent reports have revealed that there will a third feature-length movie about My Little Pony. While most of the details have yet to be disclosed, what we do know is that Meghan McCarthy and Joe Ballarini will have the roles of co-producer and scriptwriting, respectively. (Joe Ballarini was also a writer for Ice Age: Continental Drift.)
A tweet by Ms. McCarthy has caused some fans to infer that this will be a ponyized story, unlike the humanized Equestria Girls films. Speculation is rampant, as the wording of the tweet isn’t specific.
Hasbro Studios president Stephen Davis seems to support the speculation. He said, “… It’s an exciting time to be a pony fan or a brony… I think it gives us an opportunity to tell a bigger story, that maybe we [can’t] tell on television. This is not about television for the big screen. It’s also an opportunity to broaden the franchise.”
Are you excited? I sure am! Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a couple years, as the film isn’t due to be released until 2017.
